GATHER SUPPLIES

To make the covers you will need two 4.5" x 4.5" pieces of chipboard, two 6.5" x 6.5" pieces of colored construction paper, a glue stick, and a pair of scissors.

IMG_2176_edited.jpg

ATTACH PAPER

Glue your chipboard in the center of your construction paper.

IMG_2178_edited.jpg

SNIP CORNERS

Snip off the corners of the paper at a 45° angle. Be sure to leave a small space between the chipboard corners and the new paper edge. Do not cut right to the board, or leave too much space.

FOLD

Fold down one side of your paper. Then apply glue to the side of the chipboard and the paper flap. Fold over and smooth it into place. Repeat on the side opposite of the original fold.

PUSH CORNERS

Use your finger to push in the corner pocket made from folding over the paper. Do this to all four corner pockets.

REPEAT

Repeat the folding and glueing process on the remaining two sides. The paper should now be securely and neatly attached.

BOOK ASSEMBLING

IMG_1329_edited.jpg

Using white glue and a stiff brush, apply glue to the uncovered area on the inside of the book cover.

IMG_1330_edited.jpg

Apply a square of glue along the border of your book page.

IMG_1331_edited.jpg

Place the page in the center of the book cover so that the exposed cardboard is now covered with a book page.

IMG_1348_edited.jpg

Moving on, you will be gluing your pages into pairs. To create a pair, place a page upside down onto the guide sheet. Be sure the back side of the page is face up. Use a brush to apply a thin line of glue along the right and left side of the page.

IMG_1349_edited.jpg

Take a new page and place it on top of original page. The first page and our second page are now glued together as a pair. Set the pair aside and glue the rest of your pages into pairs.

IMG_1420_edited.jpg

Place a pair on the glue mat. Be sure that the sides are glued together, but that the top and bottom are not.

IMG_1421_edited.jpg

Run a thin line of glue through the center of your page. The line should run from top to bottom.

IMG_1422 2_edited.jpg

First, make sure that your open ends align with the top and bottom of the page. Then, place your pair over the page with glue.

IMG_1424_edited.jpg

Repeat the steps to glue your pairs into a stack.

IMG_1426.HEIC

Once your stack is complete attach your covers. Place a line of glue down the center of your cover page. Check to be sure that your stack of pairs are glued on the sides but open at the top and bottom. Place the end of  your stack on the glued cover.

Repeat on the other side to complete your book.
