Larks Head Knot

Knot used to attatch the cord onto the dowel so you can get knotting away!

Single Knot

When combined, single knots begin to make a spiral shape called a twisted sinnet.

Double Knot

To make a double knot, start with a single knot. Then repeat those steps going in the oposite direction.

Double Half Hitch Knot

Begin by laying your first, leading strand out at the desired angle, Then knot each cord aroung the leading strand twice before moving on to the next cord.

Are you pleased with your end result?

I caught on to macrame a lot faster than I thought I would. I learned how tie most of the knots much more easily than I expected, but that doesn’t mean they looked as nice as I wanted them to. I think that in particular, my diagonal and horizontal clove hitches need work. However, for someone who didn’t know this type of art existed until a couple of days ago, I think the finished product isn’t too bad. -Samuel, Grade 10

It was a very relaxing and non stressful art piece and I also had a lot of fun with it and learning how to do it.

It was the first macramé that I have ever worked on; so, although it is a bit lopsided and not neat, I feel I did a relatively good job for my first time and I feel it is good enough to put up on a wall. -Abigail, Grade 10
