POLKA DOT PRINTS
Students create prints inspired by nature, repetition, and the art of Yayoi Kusama. They create two prints, one to exist as it is, and one to manipulate with water.
DESIGNING
Use tracing paper to come up with a design that takes inspiration from nature and demonstrates an understanding of repetition
ENGRAVING
Place the tracing paper over the printing plate. Use a pen to trace over the design and engrave the plate. Engrave areas to avoid them getting inked. Cut excess material off the plate.
PRINTING
Roll out the ink until it has the texture of an orange peel. Apply ink to printing plate. It should be slightly tacky. Align your plate with the page and place down. Apply pressure to the back of your plate to transfer ink to page.
FINISHING TOUCHES
Peel away your plate to reveal your print. Use a black china marker to fill in any gaps if necessary.
ADD VALUE
Use water and a small paint brush to manipulate one of your prints and add value to the image.
